Book Week in Paiakak Hub
This week Paiaka Hub had fun with Book Week activities.
Each Home base created a window display of a favourite book or series. On Thursday afternoon some of our lovely grandparents and parents visited and read stories to groups of children and on Friday we dressed up as a character from a book.On special days of the year Google will often use a google doodle instead of their normal logo. We had heaps of fun designing a google doodle for Book Week.
Doughnut of Doom
Homebase One read a cool book about a Doughnut of Doom on the loose and it's feeling hungry!
It's another ordinary day in Food Town and Alison McNutty, peanut butter sandwich and rookie reporter, desperately needs a big break. So, when the news comes in of a monster doughnut on the rampage, she's straight on the case - she knew there was something dodgy about the superfoods down at Lemon Labs! And boy, is that doughnut hungry! It's EATING everything in sight and not even the police, the fire chiefs OR the military can bring it down. Whatever will President Bacon do? But when Alison discovers that the doughnut actually has a nut allergy, a plan begins to form. We were all surprised that a peanut butter sandwich would save the day!!
Where’s Wally in Hollywood?
Paiaka 2 collaboratively made a Where’s Wally in Hollywood window display. Everyone had a great time drawing their characters for the display.
The Lorax Book Week Activity
For Book Week Home Base 3 had a theme of the Lorax which we made into a big poster for our window display. The story The Lorax taught us about what happens when we cut down trees. We learnt a lot about how the Lorax felt about the trees getting cut down and how important the trees are to us.

The 13 Storey Treehouse
This term for the Book Week window display competition Homebase 4 dmade a window display of The 13 Storey Treehouse book by Andy Griffiths and Terry Denton. The book is about two boys named Andy and Terry. They live in a tree now when I say tree I mean treehouse and when I say treehouse I don’t mean any old treehouse I mean a 13 storey treehouse. We made our own creative levels that we thought would be a good addition, then we put them on the tree. Then we went to assembly and you wouldn't believe it, but we won first place in the window display contest because of our hard work.

REST and RELAXATION ART
In the Paiaka hub, we have been learning about ways we can help ourselves have total well being. An important part of a balanced life is making sure we get some rest and relaxation. We then transferred these ideas in art and drew places that we enjoy relaxing in our sunglasses.
